adminThe Kano State Government has been ordered to pay the Incorporated Trustees of Massallacin Eid Shop Owners N30 billion in restitution for the illegal destruction of their establishments without following the correct legal procedures by a Federal High Court in Kano.
Commercial malls next to Kano Eid Ground were demolished in June by the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who claimed the constructions were illegal construction.
The Incorporated Trustees of Massallacin Eid Shop Owners, on the other hand, brought a lawsuit against the demolition in the Federal High Court on behalf of the shop owners.
On Friday, Justice Samuel Amobeda, who is presiding over the case, added that the Kano State Government’s treatment of the applicants was unlawful and inhumane.
